The 300th anniversary of François-André Danican Philidor’s birth (1726–1795) falls in 2026 – a significant occasion for the chess world. Philidor is considered one of the strongest players of the 18th century and a pioneer of blindfold chess (simultaneous games played without seeing the board).

Why Blindfold Chess Is So Important to Philidor. Philidor made headlines in Paris in 1783 when he played several games simultaneously while blindfolded – a sensation at the time.

There be will four concerts with blindchess simultan at Johannis Hall in Nymphenburg Castle and the biggest event with twenty challengers will take place in the Allerheilgenhof-Kirche in Munich Residence.
